Jonathan sues for peace, Emir celebrates 50



Presidential Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to continue to support efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the country.
He stated this in a message to the 50th Anniversary of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

Represented by Vice President NamadiSambo, President Jonathan said that meaningful development cannot take place in an atmosphere of rancor and instability.

While commending the Emir of Kano for his zeal and commitment to peaceful co-existence, the President called on traditional rulers to emulate the Emir in his crusade for peace and development of the country.

He said within the last fifty years, Kano under Alhaji Ado Bayero has been transformed into a commercial and industrial centre.

In a remark, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso prayed for long life for the Emir so that the State will continue to benefit from his wealth of experience and knowledge.

The Sultan of Sokoto, AlhajiSaadAbubakar the third who expressed concern over the present insecurity situation in some part of the north, called for peace among the populace and the entire nation.
