The volume represented a marginal increase of three per cent over the 371.26 million shares valued at N4.73 billion exchanged in 6,122 deals on Wednesday.
The All-Share Index, which opened at 36,236.49, grew by 163.67 points or 0.45 per cent to close at 36,400.16 as a result of price gains by some highly capitalised stocks.
Also, the market capitalisation appreciated by N52 billion or 0.45 per cent to close at N11.64 trillion against the N11.58 trillion posted on Wednesday.
CAP led the gainers' chart with a gain of N3.02 to close at N65.05 per share.
It was followed by Okomu Oil which gainedN2.92 to close at N53.94, while International Breweries inched by N2.37 to close at N26.07 per share.
Cadbury gained N1.99 to close at N44, while MRS Oil rose by N1.80 to close at N19.80 per share.
On the other hand, Flour Mills topped the losers' chart, depreciating by 65k to close at N85 per share.
Mansard Insurance lost 20k to close at N2.50, while Diamond Bank dipped 19k to close at N6.92 per share.
May & Baker dropped 18k to close at N1.81, while RT Briscoe lost 17k to close at N1.81 per share.
FCMB was the most active equity with 31.12 million shares worth N155.53 million traded.
UBA came second, accounting for 26.01 million shares valued at N226.85 million, while Transcorp sold 25.43 million shares worth N33.32 million.
