Cross River Health commissioner commends NDDC for donating medical items.

The Commissioner for Health in Cross River State, Prof. (Mrs.) Angela Oyo-Ita has commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for donating medical items to the State.

The Commissioner made the commendation while receiving medical items, including 60,000 worm expeller tablets, 20, 000 long lasting insecticide treated nets (LLINs), and One Million disposable syringes donated by NDDC to the Ministry of Health at the premises of the Essential Drugs Programme in Calabar.

Prof. Oyo-Ita, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Chris Ita, expressed gratitude to the Commission for the gesture, maintaining that the items will help in alleviating the sufferings of mothers and children, whom he described as the most celebrated in the State.

Presenting the items, the representative of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Solomon Ita, commended the State Government for its effort toward restoring hope to the hopeless through some of its programmes, such as the Free Medical Care for pregnant mothers and children under the age of five, as well as the Project Hope.

Dr. Solomon Ita further stated that it is in the same spirit that the NDDC decided to partner with the State. He however, appealed that the items be put into effective use and prayed for more grace on the commission to continue delivering its mandate.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Programme Manager, Cross River State Essential Drugs Programme, Dr. Eyo Nsa, thanked the NDDC for their magnanimity in donating the items and assured that the items will be equitably distributed and effectively used.

Also present at the occasion were; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Health, Dr. Iyam Ugot, Head of Health in NDDC, Dr. George Uzonwanne, Mr. Maigesh Kulkarri of Tulsi Chanrai and the State Immunization Officer, Mrs. Felicia Eyaba, among others.
