We’re ready to combat Boko Haram, others –Ihejirika

The Chief of Army Staff, CAS, Lt. General O. A. Ihejirika, has assured Nigerians of his preparedness to confront the security threat posed by members of Boko Harm sect and other terror groups.

Ihejirika spoke yesterday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the foundation laying of the Nigerian Army COMPO Ration Factory at 4 POL Res, Abakaliki and inauguration of mammy market at Nkwegu Military Cantonment.

The mammy market was constructed by Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State. Ihejirika commended the governor for his support to the military.

He said: I am particularly delighted to thank the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi, for hosting us. This conference will enable us to discuss vital issues of security problem affecting the nation.

The conference will avail us the opportunity to review the situation of the ongoing operation of the military in the northern part of the country.

The CAS pledged his unalloyed loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan for giving constant support to the military and reiterated the readiness of Army to restore peace and order to the country.

He said: I wish to declare my unalloyed loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan for his constant support to military. Also speaking at the event, Elechi decried the killing of soldiers across the country.

He said: I offer our very sincere condolence to the Nigerian Army on the isolated cases of murder of soldiers in different parts of the country in their efforts to persevere the peace of the land.

Their only offence was the struggle to ensure that all of us live, but in the process, they paid the supreme sacrifice.
